A question we get a lot is what's the difference between remanufactured engines (or transmissions) and rebuilt or used engines (or transmissions). Many people confuse rebuilt products with remanufactured (reman) products, and some may even assume that a used product will be a viable replacement alternative to their failed engine, transmission, differential or other component.
With JASPER reman components, you get tolerances that meet or exceed those of the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and a nationwide warranty that, in many cases, is better than a new component warranty. Completely remanufactured... for a lot less than you might think. But, whatever term you use for that component you're having installed in your car, truck, SUV or boat, you should make sure that you're getting exactly what you think you're getting. Here's how we differentiate used, rebuilt and remanufactured:
"I decided the automobile business was going to be big and that I should like to be a part of it."
— Alvin C. Ruxer
Alvin C. Ruxer, was born in the Southern Indiana town of St. Meinrad. Although he is best known for his involvement in and contributions to the automotive industry, there were several sides to this man. As a newspaper article once stated, Alvin Ruxer floorboarded life's accelerator. His love of baseball was born at an early age. Although he chose business over an opportunity to play semi-pro ball, Alvin's interest in the sport never waned. In fact, he used many of the sport's basic principles in his personal and business dealings.
Alvin often jokingly said he saw opportunity in everything. As a young businessman, Alvin was once quoted as saying, I didn't have enough money to afford a bookkeeper so I married one! Hilda Ruxer was a real partner both in his business and personal life.
In addition to founding JASPER Engine & Transmission Exchange and Ruxer Ford, Alvin built an American Saddlebred horse farm that is known throughout the nation.

The 2011 racing season is almost here. The NASCAR Driveline Division of Jasper Engines & Transmissions looks to build upon the success of the 2010 season by building transmissions and rear end differentials for some of the top teams in NASCAR.
Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano drove in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2010 with cars equipped with a JASPER 4-Speed Transmission, as did Michael Waltrip Racing drivers David Reutimann, Martin Truex, Jr. and Marcos Ambrose. Penske Racing drivers Kurt Busch, Brad Kesolowski and Sam Hornish, Jr. raced cars equipped with a JASPER Rear End Differential.
This is a common scene played out all around America: You pull off the highway and find yourself with a choice of gas stations. While you're almost guaranteed to see at least one nationally recognized brand waiting by the off-ramp, there might also be Brand X, selling gas for maybe 10 or 20 cents per gallon less.
Just like that, you’re on the horns of a dilemma. Saving money is fun―but you're left to wonder whether opting for the cheaper gas will harm your engine. Does cheaper gas equate to substandard fuel? Here, we debunk the myths surrounding cheaper fuel.
